Editorial Policy

Voice of Sindh is committed to fair, accurate and independent journalism for readers in Sindh and across Pakistan. This policy explains the standards our newsroom follows in all three of our editions — English, Urdu and Sindhi.

1. Independence

Editorial decisions are made by our editors alone. Advertisers, sponsors, political parties, government bodies or owners do not decide what we cover or how we cover it. Any sponsored content is clearly labelled as such.

2. Accuracy and verification

  • We verify facts before we publish.
  • Names, figures, dates and quotes are checked against reliable sources.
  • When something cannot yet be confirmed, we say so clearly.
  • Breaking stories are updated as new, verified information becomes available.

3. Sources and attribution

We tell readers where our information comes from. When we report information first published by another news organisation, we summarise it in our own words, name the outlet and link to the original report. We do not copy other organisations’ articles, photographs or videos without permission.

4. Anonymous sources

We use unnamed sources only when the information is of real public interest and the source would face genuine risk if identified. The editor must know the source’s identity, and the story explains why anonymity was granted.

5. Fairness and right of reply

We aim to present all relevant sides of a story. People and organisations facing serious allegations are given a chance to respond before publication, and responses received later are added to the story.

6. Corrections

We correct mistakes promptly and openly. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the story with the date of the change. We do not quietly delete stories to hide errors.

7. Privacy and sensitivity

  • We respect the privacy of private individuals.
  • We take special care when reporting on victims of crime, children and survivors of sexual violence.
  • We do not identify minors or victims of sexual offences.
  • We avoid graphic and distressing images wherever possible.
  • We respect every community, faith and language, and we do not publish hate speech.

8. Translation

Our stories appear in English, Urdu and Sindhi. Each version aims to carry the same facts; if versions ever differ, the version in the story’s original language is treated as the reference.

9. Contact the editorial desk

To report an error, make a complaint or suggest a story, email info@voiceofsindh.com.pk with a link to the story. We aim to respond as quickly as possible.
